Clerklands News!

Despite the cold and unpredictable weather the fishing has been good at Clerklands over the last two weeks. There has already been a few the Troutmaster forms sent off for this month biggest fish.

One of our Junior Anglers Russel Turnbull age 10 had good day last Saturday landing 15 fish all took on a damsel. Well done Russel!

Watch out for news of the forthcoming competition.

Troutmaster!

We are now registered a Troutmaster Water.

Our opening day on Saturday brought only 5 anglers which was probably down to the cold weather however they enjoyed an excellent day catching around 50 fish between them.

Des Fox had a real struggle with a fish around 6 1/2lb and local angler Dean Armstrong also had a real fight on his hands with a 5 1/2lb fish which was the best of his 17 fish of the day.

News

We have had a good weekend fishing considering the bright conditions with some nice fish being caught the biggest estimated at around 6 1/2lb.

It is good to see some new faces arriving to fish here for the first time and the return of some Ashington anglers who had not been here for over ten years.

We will be having our offical opening day on Saturday 31th March come and enjoy free refreshment and burgers. We will be stocking the loch this week and we are looking forward to the weekend and to the forthcoming Easter Holiday. Let'S hope the weather is on our side. Looking forward to see everyone.

Latest News

We have had a good week here at Clerklands with some really nice fish been caught. Local angler Frank Daly landed a nice 6lb rainbow on Saturday with a quite few fish weighing between 4-5lb caught on the same day.

The fish are in excellent condition and are fighting fit producing great sport for our anglers.

It is good to see people arriving as it seems to have been a long quiet winter, let's hope the weather keeps picking up and the water gets a little bit warmer and we will be on our way to a good start to the new season

WELCOME 2012

Hello,we would like to welcome everyone to the beginning of the 2012 season here at Clerklands.

We stocked Clerklands yesterday (Wendesday 29th March 2012) with a nice batch of fish from our regular supplier Steven from the Yarrow Valley which consisted of Rainbows ranging between 2-5lb.

We had a lot of fish left which over winterd well but have proven difficult to catch these last few weeks and thank you to our regular anglers who have given us support over the hard winter month, let's hope the newly introduced fish will now liven thing up and produce some good sport.

You will be pleased to hear we are reducing our 2 fish limit back to £15 and our 3 fish ticket back to £20 as fish feed prices have slightly come down in price from last year. We will keep the season ticket and sporting ticket prices the same as last year.

Competition!

We had an excellent competition date on 23rd July 2011. We had a great response with lots of help from our regular anglers. The weather was good and the BBQ also.

The winner with two heaviest fish was one of our regular anglers Allan Mciver who also caught a huge rainbow with a grey tag in it which landed Allan a nice £50 cash. Well done Allan!

The runner up was Des Fox again one of our regular anglers.

Thank you everyone for participating and thank you for everyone who help on the day especially Jane Murphy and Jim Mckenzie. We are looking forward to another competition towards the end of the August.

Clerklands Update

We have been keeping busy at Clerklands,with some nice fish being taken:/the biggest rainbow caught to date weight around 18lb and second at 12lb rainbow caught on Friday 16th June by Jim Mckinzie. Some beautiful brown trout have been caught recently one of the best taken by local angler John from Hawick with the fish estimated about 6lb.

We held a small competition last Friday for Kenny Gray,it was a great day and everyone enjoyed themselves with some nice fish being caught. The winner with nine fish was Kevin Young from Ouston Tyne & Wear who also won the same competition last year.

Also last weekend we hosted a stag party for Gordon Duncun from Hawick unfortunately the weather was terrible but the lads had a great day and enjoyed the wild boar burgers on the BBQ. Thank you very much lads it was great having you at Clerklands.

The Orange Tag Fish is now at £100.00 and we will be starting a new Kitty for the Grey Tag Fish as from this weekend. Keep an eye open on this blog as we will be having a competition with everyone welcome sometime on July as soon as we have a day for it we will let you know.

Update

April produce some excellent fishing with the best rainbow reaching just under 10lb caught by local angler Les Henderson and best brown trout weighing around 8lb caught by Des Fox.

We are stocking every other week with fish again from yarrow fishery which are proving again to be excellent hard fighting fish in excellent condition.

A warm welcome to our new anglers and again a big thank you for our regular anglers and we hope everyone is enjoying fish at Clerklands.

The tag fish was sighted last Monday by a boat fisherman and bounty currently set by £50 and one day free fishing. Included in our normal stocking this week will be several big fish weighing into double fingers.

News -- Fishing update

This week has got off to a very good start with some cracking rainbows and excellent brown trout being caught. Tuesday resulted in a excellent days fishing for father and son Peter and Dean Appleby taking 47 fish between them during an afternoon session(Dean landed a beautiful 4lb brownie).We are looking forward to the weekend.

2011 Season Official Opening

We will be stocking Clerklands this week and we are hoping for some warmer weather, however we do have lot of fish coming to the surface now.

The fishing has been quite good over the last two weeks considering miserable conditions with anglers braving some terrible weather.

On Saturday 2nd April we will have our official opening day where we will be serving free refreshment all day. Lets hope the weather is good and hopefully a little bit warmer We look forward to seeing everyone and some good fishing.
